May 1st Shooting in Salisbury

A shooting incident in Salisbury on Wednesday resulted in concealed weapons charges for a local woman after police stopped a vehicle believed to be involved. The Salisbury Police Department responded to a residence in the 1000 block of East Lafayette Street following a report from a neighbor who witnessed the shooting around 4:25 p.m., according to Major Justin Crews, the department's public information officer.

The neighbor informed officers that a blue sedan was implicated in the shooting. Subsequently, an officer spotted the sedan about 10 minutes later near the intersection of West Innes and Church streets. After monitoring the vehicle until it passed the intersection, the officer conducted a traffic stop, Crews stated.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a SCCY CPX-1 9 mm handgun, which was seized as evidence. Garrietta Deshawn Patterson, 42, was charged with misdemeanor carrying concealed weapons. She was then placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and received a $1,500 bond from Magistrate Duffel.

The Salisbury Police Department is currently investigating the incident to ascertain whether Patterson or any other occupants of the vehicle were directly involved in the shooting.
