SALISBURY, N.C. (Wednesday, April 9, 2025) - On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 04:36 am, deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center after being notified of a 16-year-old juvenile who showed up with a gunshot wound. Investigators learned the teen had been shot at 230 Pinevale Drive, Salisbury and was soon transferred to Presbyterian Hospital for continued treatment.
A search warrant for the property was obtained and deputies found multiple people in the home and blood stains evident of a shooting, but no weapon. During the investigation, detectives learned that the shooting occurred accidently, but one of the occupants of the house, 36-year-old Nicholas Pack Pence, took the gun and hid it under the home in the crawl space to hide it from investigators.
Detectives recovered the gun and arrested Pence for obstruction of justice. He was released on a written promise to appear in court. How the juvenile came into possession of the pistol is still under investigation. As of yesterday, the juvenile was still hospitalized and being treated for injuries.
