Rowan County, NC – At approximately 2:30 P.M., emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a vehicle transporting high-hazardous materials in the 1300 block of High Rock Road.
Due to the nature of the materials being transported, first responders acted swiftly and with an abundance of caution. Out of an abundance of precaution, residents and businesses within a one-mile radius of the scene were advised to shelter in place while crews assessed and mitigated the hazard.
Thanks to the rapid and coordinated response of emergency crews, no injuries were reported, including the driver of the vehicle. The shelter-in-place advisory was purely precautionary and was lifted once the area was determined to be safe.
High Rock Road has since reopened to traffic. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this incident.
