Rowan County Man Arrested in Drug Trafficking Bust

Michael David Smith, 47, was arrested on August 16 following a four-month investigation into drug trafficking by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators began their probe in April, focusing on Smith’s alleged drug activities in China Grove and Salisbury.

During the investigation, detectives purchased large amounts of crystal methamphetamine (“Ice”) from Smith and seized over 630 grams of meth and more than 30 grams of cocaine. Smith faces multiple charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine and cocaine. He is being held on a $1.5 million bond at the Rowan County Detention Center.
