High-Speed Chase Leads to Arrest of Stolen Vehicle Suspects in Rowan County

Statement from Rowan County Sheriff's Department on Richard Kasey Webb arrest.

In the evening hours of July 29th, A-Team patrol deputies began heavily circulating the Southern part of Rowan County in an attempt to locate two stolen vehicles from Salisbury that were believed to be in the area. The first vehicle, a gold Ford Explorer, was found abandoned near Mt. Hope Church Road. A- Team Deputies continued their search for the second vehicle with information that Richard Kasey Webb was responsible for the thefts.

At approximately 1:37 AM, A-Team deputies located the vehicle turning onto Highway 152 in China Grove, heading west towards Miller Road. A traffic stop was initiated but the vehicle began to flee at a high rate of speed. A-Team Deputies, with assistance from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, pursued the vehicle until it entered a field and crashed into a tree near Corinth Church Road. Even with Deputies and a Trooper surrounding the vehicle, Webb attempted to drive the stolen vehicle through trees and was stopped only when the vehicle became bogged down in mud and wedged. A-Team Deputies removed Webb from the vehicle and placed him under arrest.

Webb was charged with several offenses including Felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Felony Flee to Elude, Felony Injury to Real Property, Felony Injury to Personal Property, Resisting Arrest, Driving with a Revoked License and several other traffic offenses. A female passenger, Destiny Leigh Beaver, was also charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
