SALISBURY — John Michael Dayvault, a 39-year-old from China Grove, was arrested on Tuesday following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The Rowan County Sheriff's Office, alerted by the NCMEC through the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, initiated an investigation after Microsoft Bing reported potential child pornography in Dayvault’s possession, according to Captain Mark McDaniel.
Detectives searched Dayvault’s property and found material described as "child sex abuse material." Dayvault was subsequently arrested on two felony charges of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and taken to the Rowan County Detention Center with a $15,000 bond.
