A Woodleaf man was recently arrested and charged with four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child following a report of alleged sexual abuse filed by the victim's family. The Rowan County Sheriff's Office received the report on March 29, detailing the incident that occurred at the man's residence.
According to Captain Mark McDaniel, the public information officer for the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, the victim disclosed the abuse to their relatives, who then promptly notified the authorities and had the child evaluated. Subsequently, a thorough investigation was conducted, leading to the arrest of the accused, 45-year-old Adrian Berrera.
On Tuesday, Berrera was taken into custody and is currently held at the Rowan County Detention Center. His bond has been set at $30,000.
