A woman faces serious charges after police found her in possession of drugs during her booking at the Salisbury Detention Center. Ashley Lynn Bynum, 36, was initially taken into custody during a routine traffic stop around 7:25 p.m. Thursday. According to Rowan County Sheriff's Office spokesman Captain Mark McDaniel, a deputy found drugs in his possession during the stop. When Bynum was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center, detention officers noticed he was carrying a small black bag. As they tried to handcuff him, another bag containing crack cocaine fell out of his pants. Deputies immediately secured Bynum and conducted a search, finding marijuana in a black bag and crack cocaine in a clear bag.
Bynum now faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance in a detention center or local court facility, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and additional drug paraphernalia charges. . She is being held at the Rowan County Detention Center on a $34,000 bond..
