The Landis Police Department responded today to a shooting incident at the intersection of Hwy 29 and Old Betty Ford Rd. Preliminary reports indicate that the shooting occurred within the context of a domestic disturbance. There is currently no perceived threat to public safety, and their department is actively investigating the incident. Statement from Landis Police Department

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 1223 hours, officers from the Landis Police Department responded to a domestic-related shooting incident at the intersection of US 29 and Old Beatty Ford Rd. The investigation into the incident has resulted in the arrest of Jacob Seth Jennelle with Shooting into Occupied Property, a Class D Felony. The victim sustained minor injuries that were treated on the scene.

The Landis Police Department would like to thank the Rowan County Sheriff's Office and the China Grove Police Department for their assistance. We would also like to thank the Rowan County District Attorney's Office for their assistance.

The safety and well-being of our community members is our top priority. We are committed to thoroughly investigating this incident and are thankful for the collaboration and support of our neighboring law enforcement agencies.

Jacob Seth Jennelle is currently in custody and will be facing legal proceedings in accordance with the law. This is still an ongoing investigation. To preserve the integrity of the case no further information will be provided at this time.
