On Thursday, February 20, 2025, at approximately 2:25 AM, the Salisbury Police Department responded to 1416 Tilman St in reference to shots fired.
Arriving officers located a male subject, who has been identified as Emmanuel Houston Jr (18 years old), with injuries consistent of a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were attempted, but Mr. Houston succumbed to his injuries.
The Salisbury Police Department, with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI), was able to obtain enough probable cause to charge Shykiem Daekwon Verdell (21 years old) with first degree murder.
Verdell was served with the warrant by the Lexington Police Department and placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under no bond.
