Landis High Speed Chase Ends in Enochville

Statement from the Landis Police Department 


On 06/17/2024 around 1:00AM, a Landis Police Department Patrol Officer clocked an SUV driving 105 MPH on Old Beatty Ford Road.

The Officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on this vehicle, however the vehicle failed to stop, which started a vehicle pursuit.

The suspect drove onto I-85 South before exiting into Kannapolis. The pursuit then continued back into Landis and ultimately ended on Smith Road (Enochville) with the suspect hitting a tree. The suspect was arrested and evaluated by EMS before being transported to the Rowan County Jail.

The driver/suspect was identified as Teddy L Russell. Mr. Russell was ultimately charged with:

F-Flee/Elude
M-Speeding (105 MPH in a 45MPH Zone)
M-Reckless driving to endanger.
M-DWLR
M-DWI
M-Hit and Run
