A 23-year-old man, Jermaine Tye Wade, has been charged with multiple offenses after being found to possess marijuana while being booked into the Rowan County Detention Center. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when deputies responded to a report of a 15-year-old runaway who had been found hanging out with Wade in the 100 block of Furniture Drive.
Wade was arrested and charged with misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor. During the booking process, deputies searched him for any controlled substances or weapons and found a clear bag filled with marijuana in his pants. He was subsequently charged with felony possession of a controlled substance on the premises of a penal institution and possession of between 0.5 and 1.5 ounces of marijuana.
