Albemarle Shooting

According to an update from the City of Albemarle, the Albemarle Police Department has apprehended a suspect in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred in the 800 block of NC 24/27. The incident unfolded around 9:55 a.m. when an Albemarle Police Officer reported hearing gunfire. Upon reaching the scene, officers found a male who claimed to have been targeted from a vehicle. Following an investigation, officers identified a suspect vehicle and its potential whereabouts. With the help of the Norwood Police, detectives from the Albemarle Police Department managed to intercept the suspect vehicle in Norwood, NC.

Taahir Darnell Brunner, aged 28, was arrested in connection with the incident. He currently faces charges including discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, discharging a firearm within city limits, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and attempted first-degree murder. Initial findings suggest that this was not a random occurrence, and the individuals involved were acquainted. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in relation to the incident, although a bullet penetrated a nearby store, passing through two walls before lodging in a third.
